The reading shows “--” or stays at zero.
Make sure you granted microphone permission (Settings → SPL Meter → Microphone). Then check that the correct input is selected in the input picker at the top — built-in mic, USB, Bluetooth, or headset.
Is this a calibrated, certified meter?
No. Readings depend on your device’s microphone. SPL Meter is excellent for monitoring, comparison, and setup, but it is not a substitute for a calibrated Class 1/2 sound level meter for compliance work.
Does the app record or upload my audio?
No. All processing happens on-device in real time and audio is discarded immediately. See the Privacy Policy.
